The England Surfing Championships for Longboard and Shortboard was held this last weekend (24th/25th Oct) in pumping conditions at Great Western. The event was moved from Fistral due to forecast extreme conditions. Anyone who knows the bay will know that to get head to overhead surf in the bay means that everywhere else is stormy huge.
With 10 minute paddle outs the competitors deserve a big hand for their efforts and providing some great performances.
There was a great deal of quality surfing visible across the 2 days at Great Western, culminating with the Men's Final in what can only be called 'challenging'. Or possibly 'bleddy thumping'. The wind got just squally enough in the final to take the shine slightly off what had been a very entertaining couple of rounds in head-high-and-a-bit-more clean surf, but nothing could distract Adam 'Bearman' Griffiths who quietly but purposefully went through every heat with high double digit scoring to take a well deserved win against Ben Skinner, Louis Thomas-Hudson and Jordan Zervas.
Huge congratulations to Emily Currie, Izzy Henshall and Arthur Randell for their respective victories in the Women's, U18 Girls and U18 Boys divisions respectively.

We'll just pull the plaster off this one. Following a recent meeting of the BLU committee, and with reference to the current guidelines on the Covid-19 situation, it has been decided that it will be impractical to run ANY of the proposed events on this year's tour. Further to that, to possibly have to determine the outcome of the 25th anniversary tour on a single event with a reduced field would do a disservice to pretty much everything the BLU stands for.
We look forward to seeing you all back in 2021 to a bigger and better tour and wish you all a productive and wave-filled off season.

21st March

It's the news YOU were expecting and WE were hoping not to deliver. Despite our best efforts, in accordance with the newest information and government guidelines we are (currently) cancelling all BLU events this year. Please keep an eye on here for further updates. Be assured that if it's safe and feasible to run any of this year's tour, we will do our utmost to make sure that happens.

If you're still intent on getting in the water in the next few weeks/months, make sure you keep yourself and others safe and we'll see you on the other side.

There will be two entry pages when the competitions come round.
The first page will be for the full price first or only entry.
The second page will be for the extra entries.
