The Tynemouth Longboard Classic

Tynemouth Longsands 28 March

The first stop of the 2026 season, and another northern classic!! With forecasts keeping us all on our toes, meaning a move to the reserve date and nervous eyes tracking an unpredictable swell, the 2026 Tynemouth Longboard Classic was called on, and the longboard crew were given the warmest of welcomes to Longsands.

This is only the second event hosted at Tynemouth but it’s already cemented an awesome reputation on the British Longboard Tour. Crowds of warm support on the beach, chilly waters, a serving of barrels, and all coupled with the North Sea Weekender and the North Sea Surf Film Fest – this really is an event to be part of.

An 8am check-in saw competitors bemoaning too thin boots and no gloves, but nothing to dampen the spirits! Want to catch up with the event in full? You can watch the first event of the year here .

Given a dropping swell and a flat forecast the following day, the first event of the British Longboard Tour was held in just the one day. Plenty of time to showcase some of the best longboarding the UK can offer, despite increasingly windy conditions.
